Intro to Hebrew Language & Prayer
6 Sundays, 12:30-2 PM

(No classes February 15, February 22, March 1)

Description: Want to feel more confident in shul? Wish that "ashrei" would roll off your tongue more easily? Practice reading some common prayers and learn the basic structure of the Hebrew language as well as some common prayer vocabulary to enhance your synagogue experience. This class will be conducted at a relaxed, slow pace - predominantly in reading/translation.
Prerequisites: Ability to read printed Hebrew* (an occasional contribution to our snack table also helpful)
* Don’t yet read Hebrew? Not to worry! We've got you covered! Prepare for this course by enrolling in "Surprisingly Simple Hebrew Reading in 2 days" (see below). Is your reading just a trifle weak? Again, no problem! Just register concurrently for " Self-paced Hebrew Reading Refresher"(see below).
Intermediate Hebrew Language Immersion
Fee: $99 per four 90-minute sessions
Prerequisites: Ability to read printed Hebrew & write cursive script. Equivalent of 2 semesters of college Hebrew. Ability to converse in the present and past tenses desired.
Description: Expand your vocabulary and broaden your knowledge through conversation, short texts and "authentic materials" such as cartoons and newspaper articles. Grammatical structures and the Hebrew verb system are taught in context. Class is conducted entirely in immersion.
Advanced Beginning Modern Hebrew Immersion
6 Sundays: February 1 & February 8; March 8, 15, 22 & 29 (no classes on Feb 15 & 22 and March 1)
Fee: $136 (Please bring cash or check payable to "Elana Gerson" with you to 1st session)
Textbook: "Modern Hebrew", Blumberg & Lewites available for purchase ($36) from TAA office
Prerequisites: Ability to read printed Hebrew* and a sense of humor! Ability to write cursive script desirable but not required. Prior registration in the Monday evening Hebrew class at TAA or equivalent OR language-learning aptitude desirable.

Don't yet know how to write script? No problem: just register concurrently for "Self-paced Hebrew Reading Refresher" (see below) at no additional charge.
Description: Join us to learn some serious Hebrew- in a fun and easy way! From the first 5 minutes of the first day, you'll be speaking and understanding Hebrew! With the use of lots of visuals, games and movement, you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll learn to speak and understand! We will also read some simple texts to gain a basic understanding of Hebrew grammar and the Hebrew verb system. An excellent foundation for further language and/or Torah study. Class will move quickly and be conducted primarily in immersion!
